The Art of Slowing Down: Why Hand Embroidery is the Ultimate Creative Reset

In a world that moves at the speed of light, there is something truly revolutionary about a single needle moving intentionally through fabric. While our digital lives often demand split-second decisions and endless multitasking, hand embroidery asks for something entirely different: focus, patience, and the gentle rhythm of slow craft.

My own journey with textiles didn’t start with the quiet of a studio; it began in the high-pressure world of costume making. While I loved the drama of seeing a character transformed on stage, I constantly felt drawn to the intricate, hidden details that defined the costume—the parts that required the absolute precision of traditional hand embroidery. Moving from grand spectacle to detailed stitching was a natural transition, and it’s a perspective I’m excited to share.

Finding the Flow with the Trellis Flower

Hand embroidery isn’t just a class; it’s an experience. It’s about entering that unique “flow state” where the noise of the city fades away, and all that matters is the next stitch.

On April 12th, I’ll be hosting an intensive, 3.5-hour Trellis Flower workshop right here in Prague 10. I’ve designed this session to be a welcoming, intimate space for all stitchers—from absolute beginners to those looking to refine their technical skills.

We will focus on the Trellis Flower, a classic design perfect for mastering technical precision while exploring rich texture. To ensure the highest quality experience, you will be working with professional materials, including exquisite Appleton wool, to bring your creation to life. Our small group setting (located at the Bohemia Institut) offers personalized attention and a truly bilingual (and trilingual!) atmosphere, where conversation flows easily in English, Czech, and French.

Looking Ahead: New Designs on the Horizon

This April workshop is just the beginning. I am passionate about bringing technical mastery and modern design to the Prague creative community, and I am busy expanding the Artis Salander catalog.

I am currently working on finalizing a few new workshop concepts that I can’t wait to introduce:

  • The Neon 30: A design that plays with vibrant, unexpected color palettes while maintaining technical technical precision.
  • The Colibri and the Flower: I am also starting a brand new design in the next couple of weeks, which will form the basis of a future advanced techniques course.

Hand embroidery is an art that requires you to slow down, breath, and create with intention. If you are looking for a unique creative reset in Prague, I would love to meet you at the stitching table.
